The Dragon Sword is 40 5/8 inhes overall. The sharpened stainless blade is 26 1/2 inches. It has a white composition handle with Chinese dragon motif and black silver finish metal tsuba. Black finish aluminum scabbard. It is about as a unique a weapon as you'll find.
The dragon, a symbol of strength and fortune, has always been an important part of Japanese and China culture. It is said that many of Japan's emperors were descendants of dragons who mated with humans. Even Emperor Hirohito claimed that he had dragon ancestry in his past.
That said, the dragon is obviously the central focus of this weapon. It stretches across the handle of the sword. The scowling dragon mouth is reminiscent of the fierce shark mouths painted on the cowlings of fighter planes during World War II.

The Japanese katana was often worn paired with another smaller sword or dagger. The shorter sword, called a wazashi (also known alternately as Wakizashi and, occasionally, Fred) measured twelve to twenty-four inches in length. The dagger, a tanto measured six to twelve inches in length. Tonto, from the Lone Ranger, has nothing to do with Asian weapons, but for the record, he was 67 inches long.
